The Lost Princess of Oz

There could be no doubt of the fact: Princess Ozma, the lovely girl ruler of the Fairyland of Oz, was lost.

의심할 여지가 없는 사실이었다. 오즈의 요정나라의 사랑스러운 소녀 통치자 오즈마 공주가 실종되었다.

She had completely disappeared.

그녀는 완전히 사라졌다.

Not one of her subjects—not even her closest friends—knew what had become of her.

그녀의 신하 중 누구도, 심지어 가장 가까운 친구조차도 그녀에게 무슨 일이 일어났는지 알지 못했습니다.

It was Dorothy who first discovered it.

그것을 처음 발견한 사람은 도로시였습니다.

Dorothy was a little Kansas girl who had come to the Land of Oz to live and had been given a delightful suite of rooms in Ozma’s royal palace just because Ozma loved Dorothy and wanted her to live as near her as possible so the two girls might be much together.

도로시는 캔자스 출신의 작은 소녀였는데, 오즈의 나라에 와서 살게 되었고, 오즈마는 도로시를 사랑했기에 두 소녀가 최대한 가까이 살 수 있도록 오즈마의 왕궁에 멋진 방들을 내주었습니다.

Dorothy was not the only girl from the outside world who had been welcomed to Oz and lived in the royal palace.

도로시는 바깥 세상에서 오즈로 환영받아 왕궁에 살게 된 유일한 소녀가 아니었습니다.

There was another named Betsy Bobbin, whose adventures had led her to seek refuge with Ozma, and still another named Trot, who had been invited, together with her faithful companion Cap’n Bill, to make her home in this wonderful fairyland.

또 다른 베시 보빈이라는 여자가 있었는데, 그녀의 모험은 그녀를 오즈마에게로 이끌었고, 또 다른 트롯이라는 여자는 충실한 동반자 빌 선장과 함께 이 멋진 요정 나라에 정착하도록 초대받았습니다.

The three girls all had rooms in the palace and were great chums; but Dorothy was the dearest friend of their gracious Ruler and only she at any hour dared to seek Ozma in her royal apartments.

세 소녀는 모두 궁궐에 방이 있었고 아주 친한 친구였습니다. 그러나 도로시는 자비로운 통치자의 가장 친한 친구였으며 오직 그녀만이 언제든지 감히 오즈마를 왕실 거처로 찾아갈 수 있었습니다.
